Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that aims to promote research and disseminate academic and research articles for researchers, academicians, lecturers, teachers/Dharma Acharya, and students. The journal focuses on multidisciplinary studies of Buddhism and education.

All articles published in Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies are peer-reviewed by at least two experts. Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or be under consideration by any other journal. Authors are required to carefully follow the journal’s submission instructions, including the required reference style and manuscript format.

To support the editorial process, peer-review management, copyediting, layout editing, publication, distribution, and journal development, Smaratungga applies the following author fees:

1. Submission Fee

Authors are required to pay a Submission Fee of IDR 500,000 for each manuscript submitted to the journal.

This fee covers administrative costs, initial editorial screening, and the initial manuscript handling process. Payment must be made after manuscript submission and before the review process begins.

Payment of the submission fee does not guarantee that the manuscript will be accepted for publication.

2. Publication Fee / Article Processing Charge

For manuscripts that have been accepted for publication, authors are required to pay a Publication Fee / Article Processing Charge of IDR 3,500,000 per article.

This fee includes editorial processing, layout editing, copyediting, publication, and distribution of the article in both print and electronic formats.

The publication fee must be paid after the article has been officially accepted for publication.

3. Fast-Track Review Fee

Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies provides a Fast-Track Review service for authors who require an accelerated manuscript review process. The fee for this service is IDR 1,500,000 per manuscript.

An invoice will be sent to the author via email after the article is accepted for publication. Articles accepted for publication will be published after payment confirmation is received.

Fees are non-refundable, except in special cases that will be considered by the editorial team.

Fast-Track Review Terms and Conditions

Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies provides a Fast-Track Review service for authors who require an accelerated evaluation process. This service may only be granted with the approval of the Editorial Board after considering the manuscript’s suitability, editorial readiness, and reviewer availability.

Before applying for Fast-Track Review, authors must carefully note the following terms and conditions:

1. The submitted manuscript must be relevant to the focus and scope of Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies, particularly multidisciplinary studies of Buddhism, Buddhist education, religious education, Dharma teaching, Buddhist pedagogy, and related educational or religious studies. Manuscripts that do not have a clear connection with Buddhism, education, or related scholarly discussions will not be processed further.

2. Fast-Track Review is a service to accelerate the review process, not to accelerate publication. Therefore, authors must understand that this service does not guarantee faster publication or publication in a particular issue.

3. The decision to accept or reject a manuscript remains fully based on the academic quality of the manuscript, reviewer recommendations, and the final decision of the Editorial Board.

4. All manuscripts, including those processed through Fast-Track Review, will still be reviewed by at least two experts according to the journal’s peer-review standards.

5. After a manuscript is accepted, it must still go through the standard editorial and production stages, including copyediting, layout editing, proofreading, and final publication preparation.

6. The journal publication schedule follows the regular schedule stated on the journal’s OJS page. Before publication, the journal may only issue a Letter of Acceptance for manuscripts that have been officially accepted.

7. The estimated first decision for manuscripts approved for Fast-Track Review is 2–6 weeks after the manuscript passes the initial editorial screening and the Fast-Track Review payment has been confirmed. The first decision may be accepted, minor revision, major revision, or rejected.

8. The Fast-Track Review fee is IDR 1,500,000 per manuscript. This fee is an additional fee for accelerating the review process and is separate from the Publication Fee / Article Processing Charge.

9. The Publication Fee / Article Processing Charge in Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies is IDR 3,500,000 for manuscripts that have been accepted and will be published.

10. Payment of the Fast-Track Review fee does not guarantee manuscript acceptance and does not influence the independence of editors or reviewers in evaluating the manuscript.

11. The Fast-Track Review fee is non-refundable once the accelerated review process has started.

12. Smaratungga: Journal of Education and Buddhist Studies does not apply a publication “slot” system. All manuscripts must be submitted through the OJS system and will be processed according to the journal’s editorial procedures.

13. The estimated review time is a service target and may change if additional review, substantial author revision, reviewer delay, or other editorial considerations are required.

By applying for the Fast-Track Review service, authors are considered to have read, understood, and agreed to all the terms and conditions above. Most importantly, authors understand that Fast-Track Review is an acceleration of the manuscript evaluation process, not a guarantee of acceptance or accelerated publication.
